What a green fee costs in Switzerland, and why it costs more without a club
There is no single Swiss price, but there are patterns. Three published tariffs side by side, the surcharge for players without a club, the cheaper tiers and the sum for a season.

A green fee is the price of a round as a guest, and there is no single Swiss price. What there are, are patterns: 18 holes on a weekday between CHF 100 and 180, more at the weekend, nine holes about half, and a surcharge for players without a club that hardly anyone expects. Here are three published tariffs side by side and the sum for a season.
Three courses, three tariffs
| Course | 18 holes, Mon to Fri | 18 holes, weekend | 9 holes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Golfpark Otelfingen | CHF 100 | CHF 120 | CHF 55 and 65 |
| Golfpark Holzhausern | CHF 100 | CHF 120 | CHF 55 and 65 |
| Golf Club Davos | CHF 100 | CHF 110 | not published |
| Golfclub Wylihof, club members | CHF 120 | CHF 140 | CHF 65 and 75 |
| Golfclub Wylihof, without a club | CHF 180 | CHF 210 | CHF 95 and 110 |
The figures come from the courses' own tariff pages, as at 26 September 2026 (Otelfingen, Holzhausern, Davos, Wylihof). The last two rows are the same course on the same day.
The surcharge for players without a club
This is the number that surprises beginners. At some courses the green fee depends not only on the day but on where your licence sits. At Golfclub Wylihof a member of another Swiss club pays CHF 120 for 18 holes on a weekday, while somebody playing through the ASGI, the Migros GolfCard or clubless from abroad pays CHF 180. At the weekend it is CHF 140 against CHF 210.
Accompanied by a member both figures drop sharply, to CHF 100 and CHF 130. This is not an isolated case but a common model, and it is why the Migros GolfCard advertises that no surcharge applies at more than half of Swiss courses (migrosgolf.ch). If you play without a club, check the tariff before booking rather than at the desk.
What the green fee includes
That differs too. Golfclub Wylihof includes 30 range balls, a rental trolley and a strokesaver in its unreduced green fees. Other courses sell everything separately: at Davos a trolley is CHF 6, an electric trolley CHF 25, a buggy CHF 50 and a rental set of clubs CHF 30, with 30 range balls for CHF 5.
Between a green fee with everything and one without, that is quickly CHF 30 to 40. So comparing prices means comparing not just the number but what comes with it.
The cheaper tiers
- Nine holes. About half: CHF 55 on a weekday at the Migros golf parks, CHF 65 at Wylihof for club members. Two hours instead of four, and the round counts for your handicap just the same.
- Short courses. The 9-hole par 3 at Holzhausern is CHF 35, a follow-up round CHF 27. For practising the short game that is the cheapest hour of golf on grass there is.
- Juniors. Half price up to 21 at the golf parks; up to 18, CHF 50 for 18 holes and CHF 30 for nine at Wylihof.
- The weekday. CHF 20 less than the weekend is the rule, and the course is emptier.
- Multi-day cards. At Davos a week is CHF 320, two weeks CHF 590, a month CHF 950. From three rounds in a week that adds up.
A season, worked out
Twenty rounds a year, played on weekdays, at courses charging CHF 100 with the GolfCard reduction of CHF 10, comes to CHF 1,800. With the surcharge for clubless players at a course like Wylihof the same twenty rounds would be CHF 3,600.
| Variant | 20 rounds |
|---|---|
| Golf park on weekdays, with the GolfCard | CHF 1,800 |
| Mixed, some weekends | around CHF 2,200 |
| Courses with a clubless surcharge | up to CHF 3,600 |
| Twenty nine-hole rounds | around CHF 1,100 |
That shows where the big levers are: not in the annual fee for a licence but in the choice of courses and days. Which licence pays off for you is in ASGI, Migros GolfCard or a club.
Why the prices differ so widely
An 18-hole course is a farm with grass instead of grain: land, machinery, water and staff, all year round. Those costs are spread over members and guests, and depending on how many members a club has, the guest price comes out higher or lower.
Hence the three models you see in Switzerland. Public facilities such as the Migros golf parks live on volume and keep the price low and the same for everyone. Clubs with a strong membership charge guests more, and members of other clubs less than clubless players. And holiday regions sell weekly and monthly cards, because their guests play several days in a row.
The season is part of the sum
A course at 1,500 metres is open for half a year, one on the plateau for almost all of it. That changes the calculation on both sides: the mountain course has to earn its costs in five months, and in exchange the player gets summer conditions other people travel for.
For you that means: in spring and late autumn the lower courses are open and cheaper, in high summer the altitude is worth it. And from November to March the green fee disappears entirely, because hardly a course is open; what works then is in Golf in winter in Switzerland.
Where the current tariff is
On the course's website, under tariffs or green fee, and there it is binding. The figures in this post are examples from one day and change with every season. Three things that are on a tariff page and easy to miss: whether the price is tiered by licence, whether there is an afternoon rate, and when weekend prices start to apply.
Our directory lists the indoor venues and the tracked driving ranges, not the golf courses; for green fees the course itself is the source. What an hour in a bay costs and where it is, is on the map.
Green fee and simulator hour
A green fee of CHF 100 is the equivalent of two hours at an indoor venue, using the median of CHF 50 per bay. Except that the bay price covers up to four people: for four, the same hour is CHF 12.50 a head.
That does not make them comparable but complementary. A round on a course is four hours of golf with decisions, weather and a score. An hour in a bay is sixty measured shots. Play twenty rounds in summer and measure twenty hours in winter and you pay about CHF 1,800 for the one and CHF 1,000 for the other, and you have bought two different things. The venues' prices are on the price overview.
The afternoon is the third lever
Besides the day of the week and the number of holes, many courses run an afternoon rate that applies from a set time, often two or three o'clock. In summer the light lasts until nine, so eighteen holes are perfectly possible, and the course is emptier than in the morning.
Where there is no afternoon rate, ask about nine holes in the evening. Two hours after work cost half as much and count for your handicap exactly as a full round on a Sunday morning does.

Check before booking
- The tariff for your licence: club member, ASGI, Migros GolfCard or clubless.
- Weekday or weekend, and whether there are afternoon rates.
- What is included: range balls, trolley, strokesaver.
- Whether being accompanied by a member lowers the price.
- Whether a multi-day card beats three single rounds.

Frequently asked questions
What does a green fee cost in Switzerland?
For 18 holes on a weekday, typically between CHF 100 and 180, and CHF 110 to 210 at the weekend, depending on the course and your licence. Nine holes cost about half, a 9-hole par 3 from CHF 35. Every course publishes its own tariff.
Do players without a club pay more?
At some courses, yes. At Golfclub Wylihof a club member pays CHF 120 for 18 holes on a weekday while a player using the ASGI or the Migros GolfCard pays CHF 180. Accompanied by a member it is CHF 100 and CHF 130. The Migros GolfCard names more than half of Swiss courses as free of the surcharge.
What is included in a green fee?
It varies. Golfclub Wylihof includes 30 range balls, a rental trolley and a strokesaver. At Davos a trolley is CHF 6, an electric trolley CHF 25, a buggy CHF 50 and a rental set CHF 30. The difference is quickly CHF 30 to 40.
How do I save on green fees?
Play on weekdays, take nine holes instead of eighteen, use short courses, check multi-day cards and play accompanied by a member. At Davos a week card is CHF 320, which pays off from three rounds.
How does a green fee compare with a simulator hour?
A green fee of CHF 100 equals two hours at an indoor venue at the median of CHF 50 per bay. Because a bay takes up to four people, the same hour is CHF 12.50 a head for four. The two are not comparable: four hours of golf against sixty measured shots.
