Pitch and putt and par-3 courses in Switzerland: where to play without a Platzreife, and prices
Bad Schinznach and the Swiss Golf Park let you play without the Platzreife, Moossee asks for a course permission: Swiss short courses with access rules and prices.

Yes, Switzerland has short courses with par-3 holes where you can play without a Platzreife, the Swiss course permit. At Bad Schinznach you need neither the permit nor a handicap, and the Swiss Golf Park in Wädenswil lets you onto its short course without the permit too. Not every short course is that open: Golfpark Moossee asks for a course permission. A round costs CHF 30 in Bad Schinznach, a day at the Swiss Golf Park CHF 25 and at Moossee CHF 25 to 35. I read the venues' pages on 2 October 2026.
What are the short courses called?
The names vary. Bad Schinznach calls itself a «short-hole golf course Pitch & Putt», the Swiss Golf Park speaks of a «3-hole short course», and Golfpark Moossee describes its academy course as a 6-hole course made of 6 par-3 holes. According to our entry, Golfpark Holzhäusern has a 9-hole par-3 course next to its 18- and 9-hole courses. On the Swiss Golf map «Pitch&Putt» is a category of its own, and it shows six venues there (as of 2 October 2026). How long the holes are is on the venues' scorecards.
Where are pitch and putt and par-3 courses?
The table shows three venues whose pages state both access and price (as of 2 October 2026).
| Venue | Canton | Course | Access | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bad Schinznach | AG | 9-hole Pitch & Putt | without Platzreife and without a handicap | 1st round CHF 30, each further round CHF 20, day ticket CHF 62 (price list) |
| Swiss Golf Park Wädenswil | ZH | 3-hole short course with 9 tees, 416 metres | open without Platzreife too (FAQ) | day green fee CHF 25 |
| Golfpark Moossee | BE | 6-hole academy course with 6 par-3 holes | with a course permission, without one under «bring your friend» | day green fee CHF 25 (Mon to Fri), CHF 35 (Sat, Sun, public holidays) (tariffs) |
Swiss Golf names more short courses on its map: Company Golf & Lodge in Seedorf UR with a 6-hole facility with pitch & putt, Golf Meggen LU with a 9- and a 6-hole course, opened in August 2017, Golfpark Waldkirch SG with a 3-hole short course at its practice centre, and in Verbier VS the Pitch & Putt Moulins with 18 holes and par 54. That is par 3 per hole on average. From our own entries come Golfpark Oberkirch LU with pitch & putt, Golf Club Thunersee BE with a 9-hole pitch+putt course, Winterberg ZH and Mägenwil AG with a 3-hole short course each. According to the Migros Golf Parks tariffs the 9-hole par-3 course in Holzhäusern costs CHF 35 per round, the follow-on round CHF 27, the figures are in What a green fee costs in Switzerland.
Do you need the Platzreife for a short course?
That depends on the venue. Bad Schinznach asks for neither the permit nor a handicap. The Swiss Golf Park states that the driving range and the short course are open without the Platzreife and lends clubs for free. Golfpark Moossee admits all golfers with a course permission to the 6-hole course; under «bring your friend» a booking without one is possible. What the permission requires exactly is not explained on the page, so ask the golf park before you travel.
You can prepare the Platzreife itself on short facilities. According to the Swiss Golf regulation practically all golf clubs and short-game facilities (driving ranges, pitch & putt) offer a preparation. The test on the course may take place on a homologated course, on a 6- to 9-hole course or on a pitch & putt course. According to the regulation the signed scorecard of the test can be submitted as the first handicap result if it was played on a homologated course over 9 or 18 holes. A short course is not listed there. Procedure, test and costs are in Platzreife in Switzerland: how it works.
What does a round cost, and what comes on top?
| Item | Bad Schinznach | Swiss Golf Park Wädenswil |
|---|---|---|
| Clubs | rental set with balls CHF 9, without balls CHF 6 | rental clubs free |
| Lessons | lesson with a coach, 1 hour, 1 person CHF 60 | single lesson from CHF 75 for 30 minutes |
Young players and frequent visitors will find prices on the pages too. In Bad Schinznach there is also a rate of CHF 27 for ASGI, IV, AHV, pupils, apprentices and students with an ID. The table shows what the two venues state.
| Item | Bad Schinznach | Swiss Golf Park Wädenswil |
|---|---|---|
| Young players, round or day | up to 16 years: 1st and 2nd round CHF 17 | juniors: day green fee CHF 12.50 |
| Annual pass, adults | season pass CHF 880 | CHF 250 |
| Annual pass, young players | season pass up to 16 years CHF 550 | juniors CHF 125 |
A worked example for Bad Schinznach: two rounds with a rental set and balls cost 30 + 20 + 9 = CHF 59. For comparison, an hour in a golf simulator costs a median of CHF 50 per bay, at 80 of the 110 indoor venues in the directory (as of 2 October 2026, our own entries). The price applies per bay, not per person. At the Swiss Golf Park Wädenswil the annual pass works out like this: CHF 250 divided by CHF 25 is 10 days, after 10 visits you have paid as much as for the annual pass. If you want to compare the short course with a full course, the tariffs of the large courses are in Green fees in Switzerland.
When is the short course open?
Bad Schinznach is open daily from morning until sunset from March to November and closed from December to the end of February. The venue writes that larger groups sometimes visit the Pitch & Putt and advises asking by phone beforehand how busy it is. For the winter months a few venues have a simulator next to the short course. Golfpark Moossee runs a Trackman Indoor for CHF 50 an hour, after a 25-minute introduction at CHF 10 per person. Golf Meggen has an indoor golf box next to its 9- and 6-hole courses, 60 minutes cost CHF 65. At Mägenwil an indoor simulator with two bays belongs to the 3-hole short course, the single hour costs CHF 130. Golf Club Thunersee offers winter training with Trackman as private or group lessons.
What this means for you
If you have never been on a course, you can start on a short course without the Platzreife where the venue allows it. The post on the Platzreife recommends two to three practice rounds on a 9-hole or short course in company before you go to the test. How a first round goes is described in The first round on the golf course. If you want to play without a club, the ways are in Golf without Platzreife and without membership. And if you start later in life, Starting golf at 50 or 60 tells you what matters. Before you go, check with the venue whether a course permission is needed, whether rental clubs exist and whether you must book.
Short courses and simulators in the directory
In the directory eight venues name a short course, a 6-hole, par-3 or pitch & putt course in their entry. The map shows all venues by canton, and golf simulator for beginners explains what to bring to your first hour. You compare the price of an hour at golf simulator prices.
Frequently asked questions
Is there pitch and putt in Switzerland?
Yes. Swiss Golf lists «Pitch&Putt» on its map as a category of its own with six venues, among them Bad Schinznach AG and Company Golf & Lodge in Seedorf UR. Short courses such as the 3-hole short course at the Swiss Golf Park Wädenswil and the 6-hole course at Moossee come on top (as of 2 October 2026).
Do I need the Platzreife for pitch and putt?
Not everywhere. Bad Schinznach asks for neither the Platzreife nor a handicap, and the Swiss Golf Park lets you onto the short course without the Platzreife. Golfpark Moossee asks for a course permission unless you book under «bring your friend». Ask the venue before you visit.
What does pitch and putt cost in Switzerland?
In Bad Schinznach the first round costs CHF 30 and each further round CHF 20, the day ticket CHF 62. At the Swiss Golf Park Wädenswil a day costs CHF 25, at Golfpark Moossee CHF 25 on weekdays and CHF 35 at weekends (as of 2 October 2026, the venues' price lists).
Can I take the Platzreife on a pitch and putt course?
The Swiss Golf regulation allows the part on the course on a 6- to 9-hole course or on a pitch & putt course. The scorecard can be submitted as the first handicap result if it was played on a homologated course over 9 or 18 holes. So ask the pro where your test takes place.
What is the difference between pitch and putt and a par-3 course?
A par-3 course has holes of par 3, like the 9-hole par-3 course at Golfpark Holzhäusern. «Pitch & Putt» is the name venues such as Bad Schinznach or Seedorf use for their short courses. The Moulins course in Verbier has 18 holes and par 54, so par 3 on average.
