Platzreife course in Switzerland: group, private or simulator coach, prices compared — post image

A Platzreife course costs CHF 1,050 to 1,380 in Switzerland at the providers I compared. The price says little as long as you do not know what is behind it: 8 lessons in a private course or 30 in a group, three weeks or nine, with clubs or without. This post puts three courses side by side, works out the price per lesson and shows a third way via the simulator. The numbers come from the providers' pages (retrieved on 2 October 2026).

Three Platzreife courses compared

ProviderPriceInstructionGroupIn the price
Golf Lipperswil, ThurgauCHF 1,09024 lessons with a PGA pro3 to 6 people10 tokens for range balls and rental clubs, rules theory, course fee, Platzreife exam, certificate and aperitif
Migros Golf Academy, six golf parksCHF 1,38030 lessons of 50 minutes in three partsfrom 4 peoplerulebook, range balls, course fees, golf bag with five clubs, GolfCard in the first year
Golf Club Klosters, GraubündenCHF 1,050 for 1 person, CHF 1,450 for 2 people, each plus 8.1 percent VAT8 lessons of 50 minutes and 2 theory lessonsprivateunlimited range balls, rental clubs, theory and practical exam, after passing one month of free golf on the 9-hole course, Monday to Friday

The Migros course costs 27 percent more than the one in Lipperswil and in return brings six more lessons, a bag with five clubs and the GolfCard in the first year. Migros gives young people up to and including 25 a 20 percent discount. Golf Lipperswil names three forms for the same price: the intensive week with 3 to 4 hours daily, the after-work course over 3 to 4 weeks on evenings from 5 or 6 pm and the classic course over nine weeks, once a week.

The price per lesson

ProviderSumPer lesson
Golf LipperswilCHF 1,090 divided by 24 lessonsabout CHF 45
Migros Golf AcademyCHF 1,380 divided by 30 lessonsCHF 46
Golf Club KlostersCHF 1,050 divided by 8 lessons, without VAT and without the theory lessonsabout CHF 131

The difference is the group factor. In Lipperswil and at Migros 3 to 6 or at least 4 people share the pro, in Klosters you get the pro to yourself. A group course costs roughly a third per lesson, but you get less attention per lesson. How long a lesson lasts in Lipperswil the page does not say, so the comparison is rough. For comparison: according to the post on the Platzreife in Switzerland, a single lesson at a Zurich golf school is around CHF 160, and how single lessons differ between providers is shown in What does a golf lesson cost in Switzerland.

With VAT the private course in Klosters costs about CHF 1,135 for one person. That is still less than the Migros course, but with 8 instead of 30 lessons. How many lessons you need depends on you. According to the post on the Platzreife most people need five to fifteen, so eight is within the range.

What the exam requires

According to the Swiss Golf regulation the Platzreife has three parts. The theory has 40 questions on rules and etiquette, 28 of which must be right. On the practice facility a Swiss PGA pro tests six disciplines with six balls each: tee shots, long game, pitching, chipping, bunker and putting. On the course follows the round, with 36 Stableford points over 18 holes or 18 points over 9 holes. A good course prepares all three. The details with the target values are in the post on the Platzreife in Switzerland.

What the course price need not cover

Golf Lipperswil and Golf Club Klosters name the exam in the price. In the Migros Golf Academy's list it is not there, so ask whether it is included. Depending on the provider there are also the green fees for practice rounds and later the licence. What that comes to in total is worked out in What does golf cost in Switzerland.

What to check when registering

  • Group size: Lipperswil names 3 to 6 people, Migros at least 4. Does the course run with fewer sign-ups?
  • Length of a lesson: 50 minutes at Migros and Klosters, in Lipperswil the page does not state it.
  • Time form: one week, three to four weeks or nine weeks, which decides whether you can practise between lessons.
  • Equipment: rental clubs are in the price at Lipperswil and Klosters, at Migros a bag with five clubs belongs to the course.
  • Exam: in the price or extra, and where it takes place.

The third way: Platzreife with a simulator coach

Three venues in the directory mention the Platzreife in their listing. They have a simulator and pros who guide you through the exam:

VenuePlaceWhat the listing says
La Grange IndoorBulle FRPlatzreife package with 14 hours of individual lessons plus exam, private lessons from CHF 120 per hour, no free play without a pro
Union Sport CenterMünchenstein BLSwiss PGA pros offer taster courses, private lessons and the Platzreife, simulator CHF 50 per hour, 10-hour card CHF 400
GolfschmiedeRheinfelden AGthree pros offer individual lessons and Platzreife courses, the bay costs CHF 50 per hour for up to four people

In Bulle 14 hours at the single price from CHF 120 come to at least CHF 1,680 on paper. Whether the package is cheaper is not in the listing, nor is where the exam takes place. Ask both before booking. What the exam requires is in the Swiss Golf regulation (Platzreife regulation), and the post on the Platzreife in Switzerland shows how to measure the exam targets yourself beforehand at the simulator. It is four of the six disciplines that any launch monitor outputs.
