St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Crans-sur-Sierre, Adare Manor: which courses you can play in a golf simulator and which software delivers them

Whether you play St Andrews or Pebble Beach in a simulator is decided by the software, not by the measuring device. And whether a venue has the course is decided by its operator, because some courses are licensed per unit and year. What TrackMan and GSPro hold, and why Crans-sur-Sierre and Adare Manor are two reasons to book a particular bay this winter.

The Old Course at St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Crans-sur-Sierre, Adare Manor: four courses you can play in Switzerland this winter without leaving the country. But whether St Andrews in a golf simulator really appears on the screen is decided not by the measuring device but by the software running on it. And whether a particular venue has a particular course is decided by its operator, because some courses are licensed as a pack per unit and year. So you go about it in this order: first the software, then a venue with the matching system, then the question whether the course is installed there.

Who makes the courses: the software, not the radar

A simulator has two parts. The launch monitor measures the ball in the first metres after impact: speed, launch angle, direction, spin. The software takes those values and finishes the flight on a course it has drawn after the real one. With TrackMan, device and software belong together: the device delivers the values, Virtual Golf 3 the course. With camera systems such as Foresight or Uneekor it is more open. The operator can use the maker's software or a third-party program such as GSPro or E6 Connect. So the same device shows a different course library depending on the program. If you want to play a particular course, ask about the software first and about the device second. How the devices themselves measure is in the post Radar or camera.

TrackMan: Virtual Golf 3 and the courses in it

On 18 September 2026 TrackMan's simulator page counts over 500 courses in the Virtual Golf 3 library. Which ones they are is shown by the course library on TrackMan's website. The library keeps growing, and the number here will be out of date in a year. Virtual Golf 3 itself arrived in October 2024 with new graphics, and according to TrackMan's announcement 15 courses were available in them at launch: among them the Old Course at St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Spanish Bay, Valderrama, Wentworth, Royal County Down and Pinehurst No. 2. Also new were time of day, fog and cloud cover, which you change during the round, and a lie indicator that shows the slope under the ball in degrees. Further courses, the same announcement says, are expected to arrive in bundles.

In Switzerland, 83 of the 126 venues in the directory name TrackMan as their system. The technology page TrackMan lists them all. Only the venue knows which version of the software runs and which packs are installed.

St Andrews and Pebble Beach in a golf simulator: what is in the pack

The Old Course at St Andrews is part of TrackMan's library. The maker listed it in October 2024 among the first 15 courses in the new graphics, and on 18 September 2026 it is in the course library on TrackMan's website. Pebble Beach is organised differently. In the October 2024 list TrackMan marked Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill with the note that the Pebble Beach Course Pack licence is required for them. TrackMan sells it in its own shop as the Pebble Beach Course Pack: four courses of the Pebble Beach resort for USD 100 a year, as an annual licence per unit. At checkout the shop asks for the TrackMan's serial number, and the courses then download to the PC attached to that unit. The pack, the product page says, is an optional supplement to the standard library that comes with the software package. So the operator buys it for their bay, or does not. In the pack:

  • Pebble Beach Golf Links
  • Spyglass Hill Golf Course
  • The Links at Spanish Bay
  • The Hay: a nine-hole short course

For you this means: a venue with TrackMan does not automatically have Pebble Beach. Ask before booking whether the pack is installed on the bay you will play in, because the licence is per unit. The same goes for any other course you really want to play. The maker's library says what exists. The venue says what it has. That is why the directory lists a venue's system, not its courses.

Crans-sur-Sierre and Adare Manor: the two Swiss reasons

Crans-sur-Sierre is the course of the Omega European Masters, and in the simulator it is the course of the Swiss Golf Indoor Championship. In the winter of 2025/26 Swiss Golf ran the tournament for the fourth time, together with TrackMan Switzerland, as the tournament notice of 1 December 2025 records: two rounds of 18 holes in stroke play, the first at Crans-sur-Sierre and the second at Holzhäusern, played from 10 December 2025 to 31 March 2026 on any TrackMan simulator in Switzerland. Entry fee CHF 20, open to amateurs and professionals with a Swiss Golf Card, no handicap limit. You may enter as many rounds as you like, and the best result per course counts. On 18 September 2026 Crans-sur-Sierre is in TrackMan's course library, and a round there in January is a reason for a TrackMan bay even without a tournament. Whether and how the tournament takes place in the winter of 2026/27 is for Swiss Golf to announce.

Adare Manor in Ireland is the venue of the 2027 Ryder Cup. On 18 September 2026 TrackMan lists the course in its course library and notes there that it hosts the 2027 Ryder Cup. The same library holds further courses with Ryder Cup history: Royal Birkdale, Valhalla and The Concession, the course Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin designed together. That is the second reason for a TrackMan bay: you know the holes before the professionals play them on television.

Foresight, Uneekor, Full Swing: own software, GSPro and E6

On camera systems it is not one piece of software but one of several. Foresight supplies its own program, FSX, and so does Uneekor. Alongside them there is GSPro, a program that runs only on a Windows PC. Its maker's page lists the officially supported measuring devices: among them the Uneekor models, Foresight GC3, GCQuad and GCHawk, Full Swing KIT, FlightScope Mevo+, Garmin R10 and Rapsodo MLM2Pro. TrackMan and SkyTrak are not on the list. GSPro costs USD 250 a year and has over 2,500 courses, which the community builds from lidar data and distributes through its own server. E6 Connect is another program that operators use on various devices. Its maker lists the devices it supports.

What matters for you: at a venue with Foresight, Uneekor or Full Swing the directory lists the device, not the software. If GSPro runs, you play from the community library. If the maker's software runs, its library applies. The technology pages list the venues by system: Foresight with 7 venues, Uneekor and Full Swing with 4 each. A phone call settles which program runs in the bay.

How to find a bay with your course

  1. Choose the course, then the system: St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Crans-sur-Sierre and Adare Manor sit with TrackMan. GSPro's community library runs on camera systems and some radar devices, not on TrackMan.
  2. Filter venues by system: the technology page shows every venue with that system, the map the ones near you.
  3. Ask before booking: is the course installed, on this bay, with the pack? A licence is per unit and year.
  4. Book as a group: the price is per bay. 80 of the 110 indoor venues publish an hourly rate, between CHF 25 and 99, a median of CHF 50 (directory, 18 September 2026). Up to four people usually share the bay.

Why this is not a video game

On a console a button press decides the shot. In a simulator your swing decides. The launch monitor measures the ball, and the software only draws what it measured. TrackMan writes that its flight models rest on billions of measured ball flights. So a slice stays a slice, on the 18th at St Andrews too, and a chip over the green lands behind the green. That is why the simulator works as a training tool, and why your score there rarely matches your score on the course, as the post Simulator score vs. course score shows. GSPro, its maker says, runs only on a Windows PC. TrackMan's courses download to the PC at the unit. Neither runs on a console.

The next step: pick the course you want to play this winter and look in the directory for a venue with the matching system. The comparison sorts the systems, and a call to the venue settles whether the course is on the bay. Then book the bay, bring three people and play the Old Course in January.
